JD, the Rebel DJ

Music and Dancing

<> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>

JD, Co-owner of the Rebel Ranch, provides Disk Jockey (DJ) services as the "Rebel DJ" in the Canyon City, Florence and Penrose area, but other areas will be considered. For several years, JD worked as an on-air Disk Jockey for a company that owned an AM Rock and FM Country radio station. He worked at both stations, switching between them on specific days and times. He's also performed as a DJ at private and public venues in North Dakota, Colorado and many other places.

The Rebel DJ music includes some newer songs but is mostly the Country classics from the 1950's through the 1990's and the Rock classics from the 1950's through the early 1960's. A variety of German Waltz and polkas, a few songs and instrumentals from the 1930's and 40's, the 1940's Big Band and the 1950/60's Easy listening Genre's.

We currently have over 100 hundred hours of music on the computer and over time, we're rebuilding and expanding our music library. We'll gladly take requests and if we don't have the requested song, we'll try to get it.

Our DJ equipment consists of a five foot folding table (folds in half), with a black drape for the front and sides. Dedicated and backup laptop computers containing the DJ program and music, external hard drive for music backup, 16 channel sound mixing board, wireless microphones, two 1,200 watt speakers and stands; plus the power cords, audio cables, other required items and spare batteries for the wireless mics and battery-powered equipment.

It has been our experience that most people do not like flashing lights and mist/smoke while dancing. Therefore, we do NOT have or use a fancy lighting system, moving lights, disco lights or mist/smoke. We only use the available house lights in the Venue. This makes it a quick and easy setup and quick, but a bit slower to tear down (coiling power and audio cables, repacking, etc), as well as easier loading, transporting, unloading and storing the equipment.

We play the music at a comfortable listening level, so people can talk without having to shout!!!!! Because of this, if you're looking for a DJ to play the music at an eardrum-bursting level, we're probably not your best choice (but we can do it if necessary). However, if you're looking for a DJ that keeps the music at a decent and comfortable level, contact us.
